  • Tell you little side kick
you're gonna get your butt kicked
if you keep keeping on this way

    Go and watch a sunset
    watch the colors transit
from purple, to yellow, to grey

    Underwater where the fishes holler
up above the water, bought a coller for your dog
    it chewed away
    it chewed away

    Corner store a market
    walking out for cigarettes
the moon is almost halfway lit

    Little birds with little wings
    softly fly and sweatly sing
the trees swaying in the breeze

    Underwater where the fishes holler
up above the water, bought a coller for your dog
    it chewed away
    it chewed away

    Tell you little side kick
you're gonna get your butt kicked
if you keep keeping on this way

    Go and watch a sunset
    watch the colors transit
from purple, to yellow, to grey

    Underwater where the fishes holler
up above the water, bought a coller for your dog
    it chewed away
    it chewed away
    it chewed away

  • Bring, I'm gonna bring
bringing home a pocketful of love

    Save, I always save
save the last bite for me love

    Now she's gone, went away
when she'll be back, she didn't say
I kissed her on the lips, told her to be safe
the day she left, went away

    Time, this time
this time I'm gonna get what's mine
won't hide in a cupboard, or sell it down the line
this time I'm gonna get what's mine

    I'll be here but I can't play
works not done, not all the way
one more word, one more note
    left unwritten, left unspoke

    Drive, gonna drive
    drive until I'm satisfied
    then, oh, then
I'll come home to your side

Hold like sap, to a branch
feed the fire, or it will not last
through the night and into day
if you sleep, I'll stay awake

    Bring, gonna bring
bringing home a pockeful of love

  • The day, slowly rolling, slowly rolling
slowly rolling to the sea, I see you

Baby in a bonnet with a blue bell on it
baby in bonnet with a blue bell on it

How you feeling, tell me baby,
tell me baby, what can I do for you?

    You are sleeping, dreaming easy
    dreaming easy, dreaming easy
    easy like a Sunday morning
    easy like sunday morning
    pouring softly, softly tapping
    easy like Sunday morning
    easy like a Sunday Morning

Feel the wind soft and cozy
    lazy, freely, little joey
    lazy, freely, little joey
just a baby in a bonnet with a blue bell on it
a baby in a bonnet with a blue bell on it
baby in a bonnet with a blue bell on it

  • Let the good times roll
    let the good times roll
    let them quench the
thirst of your soul, thirst of your soul, thirst of your weary soul

Have you been back home girl
since you seen the world girl
curl your toes to the fire
toes to the fire, toes to the fire
like you when yous a little girl

    Gonna get me an airplane
    gonna get me an airplane
    gonna fly with the birds
fly with the birds, fly with the birds, fly with the birds

    Strange to see
    all the pastures empty
    nobobys working
    nobodys calling
    nobody here but me

    Walking to a pot luck
    kicking rocks in the ruts
    the ruts we
    made as a people
    made as a people
made as a people who walked this way

    Don't know much about you
    couldn't care what you do
    I just

    want to kiss your lips
    want to kiss your lips
    want to feel your hips
    ride atop of me

    I'm a better person
    then I am in person
    and all your lessons
they we're lost on me, they we're lost on me, they we're lost on me

    Strange to see
    all the pastures empty
    nobobys working
    nobodys calling
    nobody here but me

So let the good times roll
    let the good times roll
    let them quench the
thirst of your soul, thirst of your soul, thirst of your weary soul

  • On the old pier
    we would sit there
and into your green eyes you'd let me staree

    You'd talk of home
    and nights all alone
    with burpin bull frogs
    snakes on the logs
    the soft cozy fog
    and the fire flys flicker
    and the fire flys flicker
and the fire flys flickering on

So I stared and I stared
but only a mystery lives there
    still my blue eyes
    tinker and pry
    for a bow to untie
    that fine fire'n flicker
    that fine fire'n flicker
    that fine fire'n flicker inisde

Wishes we're something that I've never done
but just this once lets do it for fun

    On the old pier
    we would sit there
and into your green eyes you'd let me stare

  • Darling, won't you tinker with me?
    be my Leonardo Da Vinci
be the clockmaker at a half past three
darling, won't you tinker with me?

    I ran, I run
    I hid, I slid
to the bottom where the bottom feeders live
acted like a vulture, and ate what they did
    when I ran, I run
    when I slid, I slid

That tree did make an awful sound
like cats in the alley or dogs in the pound
birds in the attic, a jones'en addict
when the axe tore her down

    Whisper softly in my ears
all your dreams I'd like to hear
orders, commands you got it dear
whisper them lightly in my ear

So darling won't you tinker with me?
    be my Leonardo Da VInci
be the clockmaker at a half past three
darling, won't you tinker with me?

  • Caroline takes her time
she knows she has nowhere to go
the steam boat sign says only a dime
to get to the other shore

Mickey's head, is strung to get dead
to see it just pay at the door
they did, they did, they did and they did
till the room could hold no more
and at the time the fragile noose spine

left Mickey alive on the floor
and here the law says that if Mickey ain't dead
you can't try to kill her no more
the crown stormed out, dissappointed no doubt
they didn't get what they paid for
While Mickey laughed, another at bat
and got up and walked out the door

Caroline pays the dime, and lightly she steps aboard
there were children crying, mothers trying
to remember why they did this fore
while Mickey smiled like a bride down the isle
    Caroline's boat comes to shore

    The soda sign was advertising
buy one, they'll give you one more
and thats where they met, and they're still in love yet
so don't you forget, to get in the soda line
to get in the soda line, to get in the soda line

  • Tom and, Tom and his girlfirend
    Susan, they're argueing again
at the Hardluck, the Hardluck down in Austin
where the jukebox blares Lightnin Hopkins

Come friends, come on join the fun
    Susan's buying shots for everyone
Dennis, old Dennis, he likes his Jameson
when he sees me he pours me a shot of one

Mrs Glass, Mrs Glass, he knows my drink
TW, TW, and a splash of bitters please
TW, TW, and a splash of bitters please

    Old timers, old timers
    they always hang out here
they know, yes they know, Dennis pays in beer

Closing, closing down the Hardluck again
huddled, round Jordan while he sings about his sins
huddled, round Jordan, while he sings about his sins
he sings about his sins, he sings about his sins

Tom and, Tom and his girlfiend
    Susan, they're arguing again
at the Hardluck, the Hardluck bar in Austin

  • I've been laying low
    I've been laying low
    keeping folks at distance
don't won't them near my soul, don't won't them near my soul

    Been buggin by a thought
    been buggin by a thought
buy another boat, or sell the one I got
the woods all rotted out, won't float, no doubt
maybe I'll just keep till it's someone elses to do with or do without

    I've been laying low
    I've been laying low
    keeping folks at distance
don't won't them near me soul
don't won't them near my soul

  • There's a school of fish on recess
    grasshoppers are kicking it
feels hot enough to break a sweat
but cold enough it aint happened yet

Who's gonna get your heart this spring?
tell you lies you love to believe
will brown ears tear you down to size
will blues eyes lift you to the sky?

The kids under the bridge play there all summer
the kids under the bridge they got each other

Days are long, nights in retreat
ants with watermelon at your feet
it's funny how in the south, food tastes bettter in your mouth

The kids under the bridge play there all summer
the kids under the bridge they got each other

    Better break up
    better get out
go and show them aging bones what it's all about

    Better break up
    better get out
go and show them aging bones what it's all about

There's a school of fish on recess
    grasshoppers are kicking it

  • A lit cigarette
    yeah, I ain't quit yet
    I ain't quit yet

    Won't bend and I'm greedy
I'll eat all you feed me
    thank you, I love you
girl hope you don't need me

    Chick a chick, a chickaree
in my coffee with some cream
    hold the sugar till tonight
    lovings better in the moonlight

    Wet grass and dew eyed
    surprised to realize
    wet grass and dew eyed
    tears from your eyes fly
    wet grass and dew eyed
    too late and you're surprised
    wet grass and dew eyed
    laying like cold fries

Why waste it, girl flaunt it
we all want up on it
you got it, you got it
and girl we want on it
why waste it, girl flaunt it
we all want up on it
you got it, you got it
and girl I want on it

    I lit cigarette
    yeah, I ain't quit yet
    I ain't quit yet

  • Better back track, better relax
    better slow, son
you been going much to fast

Let the past be the past
    let that car past
the train your riding it don't run on gas
on that you can bet your ass

    She's a loving machine
    pick your bone clean
put you bed and lock the door when she leaves

    She's picking the weeds
on her right arm a sleave
    depicting here dreams
    she wants you to see
but who of the two believe?

    He's my righthand man
    to do what I can't
    put the bodies in bags
    collect the cash
he's always pinching litlle girlys asses

    I met him in Reno
    yes, at a casino
a girl in one hand a drink in the other
    reminded me of my brother

She says it's better in Texas
    it's better, it's true
    she drank the koolaide
now she's handing it to you

    You swallow it down
    to Texas your bound
    just point the cars south
    you've gone too far
if you end up in the gulfs mouth

When death comes to greet me
in New Orleans he'll meet me
with a gun in my hand
    I'm a bargaining man
for the record let me enter my plea
    take her
    don't take me
