boiled peanuts can be bought
and air smells like paper and salt
and the watress she offers a shot

in the mirrors queers reflections
allusions to what you know not
the regulars are back from a funeral
another pirate has left the dock

At Bellas they're serving Italian
and Grace she's smoking out back
Reina's glaring at someone
but Reina's always doing that

here nobody drinks water
it's cook or sweet tea or nothing
and the breadsticks taste like donuts
and everyone loves them

Our neighbor downstairs he's a fellow
always greets you with hello how are you
walked all the way from carolina
to trade in his bottle for a bible

his moped has bright orange reflectors
and he rides it in any weather

At the bank they're talking about bacon

and they're all in the conversation
and I forget why I'm waiting
thinking of such a bacon

Theres a crabshack on the way to Tybee
where pelicans sit on the dock
we drink our tequilla and watch
eat peanuts the staff offers us

in the parking lot they got the gatters
and I wonder how much they cost
they're all behind fences thank god
and the pelican jumps off the dock
